CANDIDATE BLOGGERS: Thanks to Kevin S. for this piece in the WaPo on campaignblogs. I'll try multiple variants in search of starting a meme: other candidates are prezblogs (but not accurate, since only one candidate, presumptively, will actually be a U.S. president), hartblogs (etc, except the same applies), spinblogs (but a bit negative for my tastes), and candidateblogs (too many syllables, although reader Jake is partial to "candiblogs").

The piece makes the obvious allusions to earlier significant presidential campaigns in dubbing the absence of Kerry-, Gephardt-, and Edwardsblogs a "blog deficit" and "blogging gap." Other blasts from the past are predictions that this new technology will "eliminate the middleman," in this case television, from the scene in bringing candidates, pundits, and journalists all into blogosphere contact.... (Incidentally, similar predictions were raised for the internet, e-mail, and toaster ovens.)
