ALL SORTS OF UNUSUAL AND INTERESTING STUFF is now up over at Dan Drezner's place. The evolution of libertarianism? The futility of Shimon Peres? Hezbollah's record in government? The ten worst Americans? The abolition of the Spanish siesta? My friends, Dan has got it all.

In the Top Ten list of Worst Americans Nixon comes in at #9.

As a Liberal, I completely disagree. There was a lot of good in Nixon. (Disclosure: we went to the same high school.)

He didn't start the Vietnam war and he did get us out.
The EPA.
Opening up to China.
He was probably more liberal than Kerry is now.

Nixon was disappointing. Why would you cheat in a race that you're going to win?

Use that slot for Timothy McVeigh.
Good points, cs. I can just imagine you back in the mid-70s trying to explain to other liberals why Nixon really isn't such a bad guy and why you'd prefer him to that handsome young navy lieutenant who just testified against the war...
Nixon also served as a Navy officer, during WWII.

And that 'handsome young Navy lieutenant' served while that drunken fratboy draft dodger partied.

Kerry *could* testify since he'd actually *been* there and been wounded in combat.

Bush recently visited wounded troops

In the presence of men missing arms and legs he said: "As you can possibly see, I have an injury myself - not here at the hospital, but in combat with a cedar. I eventually won."

That Bush. He's a funny guy.
How could such a list exclude Jefferson and John Brown?
