PENTAGON PAYOLA FOR BLOGGERS? That's William Arkin's take on an offer DoD made to milbloggers to provide them with "exclusive editorial comment. Donald Sensing was one of the bloggers who got the offer and is reacting more positively. Blackfive was a little more skeptical. (Hat tip: JRL)

Payola: undercover or indirect payment (as to a disc jockey) for a commercial favor (as for promoting a particular record)

Are you suggesting that these bloggers will be paid? Or perhaps that press releases are indirect payment? (that would play hell with the media if it were accepted as a rule, wouldn't it?)

Something else?
I was really just looking for some alliteration. Also, I was trying to convey Arkin's sentiment (without agreeing with it) that there is something fishy about the Pentagon offer. But I think that DS and Blackfive can speak for themselves.
