UNITY GOVERNMENT WATCH: All members of the Palestinian cabinet have submitted their resignations this morning to Abu Mazen, preparatory to the formation of a government of national unity which will include, at the least, members of the Fateh and Hamas parties. PM Haniya will hand in his resignation as well to the president later today, and then is expected to kiss hands prior to the formation of the grand coalition cabinet. (Al Jazeera)

Incidentally to the latter term, it is recounted of Neville Chamberlain that he went to his formal appointment at Buckingham Palace uncertain about whether 'to kiss hands' was literal or metaphorical. The staff at the Palace were equally uncertain on the point, due to customary secrecy of private meetings between a monarch and prime minister. After several awkward seconds, when George VI invited Chamberlain to sit down without offering a hand, Chamberlain deduced his answer.
