BRING BACK SADDAM! I'm pretty sure this article from The Nation was meant to be sarcastic, but it's sort of hard to tell. Either way, its comparison of Operation Iraqi Freedom to Rwanda and Darfur seems to be serious.

Comments:
Interesting tongue-in-both-cheeks article, but ultimately irrelevant. The United States's bungling has produced the conditions for a Saddam II to restore a semblance of order. Zero planning equals a less-than-zero outcome. Look for it.

This is off topic, but I thought that OxBlog contributors and readers might be interested in this article. Canada gets caught in the middle of the American mid-term election mudslinging. I have not seen the ad, as I am in Canada, but it's baffling as to how and why Canada would be targeted as "do-nothing". Canadian troops are fighting and dying in Afghanistan !!

OT: cdntarheel, you should see the commercial, it's quite funny.

It's a good point you bring up. The person expressing that opinion is portrayed as not too bright, but it still gives a window into many American's view of Canada. It's like an internet posting where people forget that the person spoken of may actually find out and be hurt by what's said.

Apologies to David.
