SHOWDOWN SMACKDOWN: Watch Blair facing off for the first time in an hour against his younger more-Blairite-than-Blair Doppelgänger, blinking in the mirror here; on the other side, we'll get to see whether DC's up to his first TB shot. This is good stuff, sports fans.

In either case, the two are sure to draw a fuller house than Baroness Ashton of Upholland, on BBC Parliament talking to herself right now in an empty Lords on the immigration bill. Meanwhile, is Ferdy laying down the cinder blocks for a Tory-Lib coalition?

Thanks for the link to this Patrick, I was licking my lips waiting for the first PMQs with Cameron. There's no sport like politics, indeed.

On the article that posits a possible alliance (seemingly based largely on libertarian merits) between the Lib Dems and the Tories, I would have to disagree on the scale of that alliance. One only has to compare Charles Kennedy's comments that Iraq was the biggest foreign policy mistake for the UK since the Suez with a recent speech by Cameron that echoes some US rhetoric in tying Iraq in with the battle between democracy and Islamofascism to see that a greatly different worldview exists. Perhaps a temporary tactical alliance on some common issues, but I don't see any radical new alignment developing.
